We’ve done plenty of mixes and podcasts for various friends (and just for fun!) over the years, sit back and have a listen!

Elliot, BBC 6 Music Festival Special: Warm Up Mix

In the run up to Elliot’s appearance at this year’s BBC6 Music Festival in Liverpool, he’s recorded a taster mix of some of his most recent digs, including Brazilian, Latin, Bollywood, Thai-groove and straight up funk.. with added Beatles-ness, for good measure! 100% vinyl.

Yvonne at Melodic Distraction March 2019

Yvonne, manager of local crate digger’s heaven Dig Vinyl, takes us on a journey through her record collection, with a special focus on the female artists and musicians gracing her shelves – from shoegaze and dream-pop to neo-psych and trip-hop.

Dig Vinyl Podcast Dec 2018

More crate-digging adventures brought to you by Dig Vinyl of Bold Street Liverpool. As well as playing the usual mix of Prog, obscure 90s Post-Rock, Jungle and Warehouse Rave – this month we get gig etiquette advice from King Crimson, play another lively round of ‘Guess the Attendance’, we peruse the letters page of Record Collector magazine and find out what happens when 8,000 “Soul & Funk” records in a lock-up isn’t quite what you expected. Contains strong language and strong musical opinions.

Dig Vinyl Podcast Nov 2018

We debate the merits of a varied and head-spinning selection of tunes ranging from Hardcore Rave to archaic early 80s weirdness and lush 90s Sophisto-Pop, pulled from the racks of Dig Vinyl and our own collections. We get irate about 10″ singles, tell the astonishing story of Eg & Alice and play along at home with ‘Guess the Gig Attendance’. Contains strong language and subjective musical opinions passed off as fact.

Elliot at Melodic Distraction Feb 2017

Purveyors of all things musical, the team down at Bold Street’s Dig Vinyl have been busy cultivating a name for themselves as the most eclectic vinyl merchants in town. On any given day, you can expect to find yourself digging through sounds from around the known universe; indie, soul, funk, punk, beats, breaks and a whole lot more. With the digging experience always accompanied by Elliot’s personal selections on the in-store record player, more often than not, you find yourself leaving a few bucks lighter but certainly a few records happier.

Bido Lito Under The Radar 2016

The Dig Vinyl team pick the best records that might have slipped past you in 2016. From garage-pop glory from Hinds to cosmic heaviness from Slomatics, black metal from Martröð to Akala’s political hip-hop and pretty much everything in between, Dig have got you covered. They’ve even thrown in a bonus track – Nightdubbing – so you can keep ahead of the curve in 2017 too.

Bido Lito  Mixtapes

Each mix features a selection of tunes, some of which are taken from the Dig record racks, or that have passed through our hands, or just picked from the ether.

With rollin’ snares, piano breaks and bassin’ madness the Dig DJs chart the rise of drum n bass. From the rave scene and 2 Bad Mice through the Ragga Twins and Nookie we lay down a score of killers from Krome & Time, Da Intalex, Tom & Jerry, Omni Trio , 4 Hero, Squarepusher and Lemon D guaranteed to rattle the doors on your Vauxhall Nova and get the licensing authorities all twitchy. This was the creative sound of the UK 93-95.

Just in time for the post-festive season, we present an imaginary party for your headphones and harks back to nightclubs of old, when the battle lines were drawn between ‘dance’ and ‘rock’ each in their separate rooms. Listen as we move through the crowd and stagger between both – one minute you’ll be grooving to some classic 80s boogie and funk jams, and the next dodging the puddles of Snakebite n’ Black to some industrial stompers and strobe-lit psych-outs. Pour yourself an eggnog, crank up the stereo and irk the purists tonight! *Warning – contains loads of swearing – NSFW!

For this mix we decided to (almost) do away with the beats (they appear around the half way mark…briefly) and provide 75 mins of drifty, dreamy ambience for your earphones. We start with some post-rave bass drops from Lee Gamble, some electronic doodles from Lloyd Cole (yes..that one!); the awesome Klara Lewis precedes one of her dad Graham’s tracks (as ‘Dome’); there are some shoegaze drones from Belong, drifty jazz from Greg Foat Group, a bit of modern classical, couldn’t resist a bit of Four Tet, along with man of the moment Floating Points (who deftly combines all of the above); and finishing with a crackly old Virgina Astley b-side accompanied by hooting owls. Sweet dreams!

The Dig DJs set the controls for the heart of the sun on this latest mix and bring you a hazy, late summer song cycle to soundtrack the sun setting over the Mersey Delta. Including the sultry funk of Al-Dos band, the spectral harmonies of C.Duncan, a Yacht-based grooveathon from Jan Hammer (yes… that one), Balearic shoegaze from Medicine, jazzy mind-melters from Dimlite and Romare, an appropriate seasonal choice from Spectrum (via Beat Happening) and finishing with a wind chime symphony from Four Tet.

This latest ‘Feedback from Under the Floorboards’ mix comprises a few of their ample collection of tracks from the archives, creating a head-nodding, punk-flecked mix blending in Half Japanese, The Brian Jonestwon Massacre, Deerhunter, and finishing off with a legendary Laetitia Sadier groove.

Welcome to the seventh of our monthly podcast mixes from DIG VINYL.
Bold Street’s hippest and happeningest music emporium is renowned for its bulging racks of undiscovered gems, and has been doing great business since opening in March 2014. This latest mix is a celebration of the wonders of the neo-psych revolution, and is timed to coincide perfectly with the first round of announcements from LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PSYCHEDELIA for their 2015 festival. The Dig Vinyl DJs invite you to tune in and float out with an alternative psychedelic mix that explores the modern edges of psych with Connan Mockasin and Jane Weaver, and prowls around the outer limits with Why?, Position Normal and Yeti Lane. The mix closes in glorious fashion with the the festival’s headliner SPIRITUALIZED.

This latest mix proposes a few of their ample collection of tracks from the archives, fizzing with an electro dance vibe. Hitting it off with some Soundboy Killer and SHITMAT, they’ve also included an ORBITAL classic and some obscure beats and beats and beats.

This latest mix proposes a few of their ample collection of tracks from the archives, all edged with an angsty post-punk tip. Hitting it off with some DIF JUZ and CABARET VOLTAIRE, they’ve also included a couple of classics from WIRE and BAUHAUS, before rounding it off with RHEINGOLD’s proto-techno Dreiklangs-Dimensionen.
As well as this mix, the rummagers of the shop have penned a column for our October 2014 issue, where they review four of their favourite records currently in stock right now.
