An undisputed masterpiece from footwork’s GOAT that has come to be the genre’s defining album. The influence of Double Cup cannot be understated, helping propel the cult Chicago sound, which combines elements of ghetto house and hip hop, to an international audience. It’s frequently cited as one of the greatest albums of the 2010s (although I would argue one of the greatest full stop). Sadly, DJ Rashad passed away 6 months after Double Cup’s release but his legacy lives on in the likes of DJ Hank, Jana Rush, Sideswipe, and labels like Juke Bounce Werk and Ten Toes Turbo who continue to push the genre forward in innovative ways. If you’re new to the speedy sound of footwork this is an album you NEED in your collection.
